Destination Wedding Beauty

I can hardly believe that summer is over. And while it may not officially be autumn just yet, this morning I headed to the gym wearing two jumpers over my gym kit and still struggled with the early morning chill. While I sat shivering, waiting for the bus, I couldn’t help but think of warmer, sunny days in Malta, and considering how long it’s been since I did a beauty post I thought it was high time I finally did a post on my favourite destination wedding make-up. I can’t really think of a better way to hold onto that summer feeling can you?

One of the wonderful things about a destination wedding is that my skin needs barely any cover. Days in the sun (wearing SPF of course!) immediately seem to clear up my spots and bring out a dusting of freckles across my nose and cheeks, creating a pretty, very English, glow. So you’ll forgive me for not really going into foundation here, I just relied on good skincare, an SPF primer and a dab of foundation where needed. The main heroes of my Maltese villa wedding look were these…

  1. TOM FORD Soleil Eye and Cheek Palette
I could not possibly love this palette more. The four shimmering and textured shades combine to create the most wonderful, bronze smoky eye. I used the light gold in the innermost corners and as a wash up to my brow bone. I then smoked out the outer corners of my eyes by layering the light brown from the middle and the mid-brown from there out. Finally I finished with a smudged dusting of the dark brown at both the upper and lower lash line. The colour-payoff of the blush in this palette is ultra-intense; perfect for creating that sun-kissed English rose look I like. But the real treasure in this palette to me, is the highlighter. It just swathes your cheek bones in luminescent gold. It’s utterly gorgeous.

  2. TOM FORD Brow Gel
I am such a brow girl. I just can’t go anywhere without making sure my brows are done, and this Brow Gel by TOM FORD has been an utter lifesaver. It has just the right amount of colour to shade your brows perfectly (uh, be gone weird patchy bit) whilst keeping errant hairs firmly in place without being sticky. Perfect for a balmy night of dancing under the stars!

  3. Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Mascara
Genuinely the mascara of all mascaras, Velvet Noir has officially revolutionised my lash game. I just adore the intense, feathery, false lash effect it creates. It makes my eyes look huge. Love for every occasion, not just al fresco weddings.

  4. TOM FORD Neroli Portofino Forte Perfume
Nothing says dreamy summer night to me like TOM FORD Neroli Portofino. The Forte incarnation of this headily Mediterranean scent family has that level of intensity that just captivates me. Fresh and floral with a heady undercurrent of Italian woods and leather, it’s just utterly intoxicating.

So there you have it, my essentials for creating a summery look perfect for an outdoor Mediterranean wedding. There’s a lot of TOM FORD in there; there’s something about TOM FORD Beauty that just says summer to me, and I just can’t resist that. In my autumnal denial I’ll undoubtedly be wearing a lot of it over the coming month.

The final look plus boy. Also, I’m not in gym gear. I feel weird about it too.

  1. I have a confession, I don’t own any colour pallettes! I always just fealt like I wouldn’t know what to do with them. But after reading your post I think I will have to take a peak. They sound so convenient for travel too.

    1. They are SO handy for travelling. I like the Tom Ford one because it’s not got an overwhelming amount of colours. One blush, one highlighter and four eyeshadow shades. Perfect amount! xx

  2. You look so stunning! That Tom Ford palette looks gorgeous and looks like I’m going to need that Brow gel! Would you consider the consistency of the mascara to be watery, gel or in between? Thanks for sharing, this was a great post!

    1. Thanks so much Paola 🙂 I really recommend the brow gel for sure. The mascara is quite thick, definitely not watery. The effect it creates is meant to be like putting velvet on your lashes if that helps?! xx
