Combine an avid traveller and a beauty buff and you pretty much have me in a nutshell. I’m not one for packing light, especially not when it comes to my cosmetics bag – in fact even for a four night city break I paid the extra to be able to check luggage because I just can’t bare not to have a good skincare collection with me. So here’s a little round up of the my absolute musts for a beautiful, fresh-faced city escape…
Packing the cosmetics bag relatively light, this is a pared back snapshot of my daily skincare routine. Morning means a healthy dose of Vitamin C, followed by a luxurious face moisturiser to prep me for the day. Come evening, after a day of exploring, I need a good micellar water, (Garnier is still the best in my opinion, and I love the extra nourishment from their new oil-infused version) to get rid of the make-up and dirt, followed by a strong retinol and the fairly miraculous powers of rosehip oil to help me wake up beautiful.
Perricone MD Face Finishing Moisturiser
This luxe little moisturiser is a new favourite discovery. It’s super-rich and really takes care of my stress-prone skin, while the lightweight feel makes it a total dream to apply. I think it gives my skin a real boost, and is a perfect base for my make-up.
People have been telling me about The Ordinary for absolutely ages, but I didn’t get around to investing until I discovered it was available on ASOS. I’m definitely going to be trying out more, but for the moment I’m head over heels for the Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2%, the Advanced Retinoid 2% and the 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil. These have made a huge difference to my skin, really helping clear up the stress breakouts I’ve been getting more and more recently, and helping my skin look clear and radiant. Only costing in the range of £5-£8, these are genuinely extraordinary, and seriously work.
Ok, it’s not skincare, but I just cannot go anywhere without a good fragrance. I’m absolutely loving this mini tester bottle of By Kilian Vodka On The Rocks. Fresh and zesty, and more gin-scented than vodka to me, it’s the epitome of sunny days, sipping on a cool drink while dining al fresco. The perfect choice for aperitivo in Turin.
