A Red Carpet look needs to be natural and flawless under the camera flash. Lisa Eldridge, internationally renowned make-up artist, showed me how to achieve a picture perfect look at the final of the Elle Beauty Breakthrough competition.
- Apply a base to your skin using a non-luminous and low SPF foundation, such as Perfection Lumiere by Chanel. Remember to match the tone carefully with all exposed skin so it looks completely natural. Avoid any products with shimmer. Gently buff in using a foundation brush, blending well and leaving no harsh edges.
- Use a liquid highlighter on top of your base while the skin is still slightly dewy [Lisa loves Shimmering Skin Perfector in Pearl, £33, by Becca]. Using light brush strokes blend highlighter from the top of your cheekbones into the temples. Apply a little to your upper lip to make it look fuller and blend a small amount onto the bridge of your nose for a subtle, luminous effect.
- To lift shadows under the eyes, mix together a slightly light reflective concealer, like Clinique Airbrush Concealer Pen, £16, and a non-light reflective foundation, such as Diorskin Nude 001, £32.50. Using a buffing brush, buff lightly under the eyes without overdoing it and blend into highlighter. Use a smaller brush with a non-reflective concealer [Lisa loves Secret Camouflage, £26, Laura Mercier] to cover any blemishes. To finish, dust over your face with a sheer matt powder to complete the seamless look.
